Art 101 - In our gallery you will find original artwork, lithographs and giclee reproductions.

The following information will explain the different printing processes, paper, ink and edition sizes to help you choose which one is right for you.

*Original - Of course, this is self-explanatory. This is the original painting or drawing.

*Paper and Ink - These two things make all the difference in a reproduction. With paper you want it acid-free and the correct white point. You must also consider the grams and mill.

*Giclee - A Giclee (zhee-clay) is the most technologically advanced form of printing today. Don is able to produce reproductions on paper and canvas. It is accomplished using a specialized ink-jet printer that sprays millions of tiny paint drops on the printing surface.

*Lithograph - This is the printing process that you see every day when you look at a newspaper or magazine. The difference is that artwork (other than posters) is usually on a much heavier paper.

*Open Edition - This is the least valuable print. An open edition can be printed again and again as long as there is a market for the print.

*Limited Edition - This means it has been predetermined how many reproductions will be made of any particular original work of art. The main consideration is how big the edition is. Usually, the smaller the edition, the higher the price.
